Life is good, but a bit dull

Hello out there. As I often do, just posting to let anybody who cares know that life is still good out here and I am well. Just haven't had much of interest to write about. Or the urge to write.

I reached my goal weight and am now on a sort of maintenance diet, which for me translates more into 'let's see how far I can push  it' kind of thing. I've indulged in a few of the things I missed most during the 16 months of dieting, and have a few more that I think I can moderately indulge in from time to time.

I've had the itch to go somewhere for a few days. Not sure where, really, but a road trip of some kind. That urge seems to be waning a bit, so who knows! Maybe a simple day trip to the coast would work -- it often does. Or to the mountains for a little hiking. I am so grateful to have all these options so close to home.

We are headed into another super-dry season that doesn't bode well for avoiding fires, and that's more than a little concerning. I sure don't want another summer like last summer, with fires all around the city, a go-bag in the car in case we had to evacuate (but no direction to drive that didn't lead to more fires). If that happens, I'll need to reevaluate living here, as much as I love it. Of course, my options would be limited, since most of the west is now burning every summer and it's pointless to move to another burn-threatened area. Also limited in terms of affordability. Seems like the desert would be the only option, but where? Not something I need to decide now, but certainly something that's in the back of my mind all the time right now. Alas.

Still hiking once a week, or more. Not so much biking -- in fact, I'm thinking of selling my snazzy new bike. I just need to take it to the bike shop and the only way to do that is ride it and I don't want to ride it, so here it sits.

My eyesight is fading -- macular degeneration. Alas again. It's moderate, and I'm doing everything possible to slow down the progression -- good sunglasses, a hat, eye vitamins, etc. I can still see just fine, and drive safely.

I guess that's it for the "I'm alive" report. Hope all out there are well.
